Full Job Description

This Program Support Assistant Office Automation (OA) position is located at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center within Safety and Emergency Management Service.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/02/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.

In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Skill in program management; Experience in office management; Knowledge of medical terminology; Skills for writing, proofreading, editing, and formatting; Operation of a variety of computerized programs; Knowledge of accounting principles; Possess basic inventory skills.

Major Duties:

Duties may include but are not limited to: -Actively participates in the management and office administration by performing administrative and program functions; directs work and activities toward the accomplishment of Safety Service goals, such as providing a safe and healthful environment for employees, visitors, and patients.

-Organizes and directs special and/or temporary subcommittees (such as committees for Hazardous Materials and Waste Management and Bloodborne Pathogens), including recording minutes and directing documentation for compilation and distribution.

-Monitors changes in processes from other services to avoid duplication of work or creation of invalid requests due to obsolete forms.

-Service-level contact for requests for Engineering work orders and key orders, and prepares and maintains the proper delegations of authority for the Engineering functions.

-Prepares all personnel actions for the Safety Service. -Requests and maintains supporting documentation such as written approvals, jury summonses, and medical verifications from service staff.

-Monitors policy restrictions and travel dates. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. Telework: Not eligible Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
