The purpose of this position is to serve as the primary Program Support Assistant to the Veterans Healthcare of the Ozarks (VHSO) Engineering Service, and to provide administrative support to the varying sections under Engineering.
The Program Support Assistant (PSA) collaborates with the Chief Engineering Officer in handling all program support functions for the entire service.

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Specialized experience includes, but are not limited to: familiar with GOVTA and time keeping experience, familiar with experience with purchase order and administrative/clerical tasks, drafting research communication materials, emails, and reports, budget tracking systems, organization, and management of employee files for training, evaluations, certifications, and performance standards.

Proficiency Requirements: This is an office automation position and in addition to the specialized experience listed above, the applicant must be apply to type 40 words per minute or more.

Duties include but are not limited to: Performs clerical or technical program support for all programs within Engineering Service.
Responsible for directing the activities of Engineering Service in the procedural aspects of expediting the work of the office, including workload distribution when necessary to take care of fluctuating deadlines, explaining report requirements and arranging for submission of data to be assembled in a timely manner for expeditious reporting.
Collaborates in selection, training, and utilization of clerical staff. Responsible for administrative development of recurring updates of service memorandums and Engineering policies and procedures.
Serves as primary/secondary timekeeper. Performs general program support work such as the collection, compilation, research, and/or tracking of data, and program information.
Receives telephone and personal callers for Engineering Service, using judgment in handling and/or referring the caller to the appropriate person.
Coordinates major committee meetings from the Engineering Management Committee and the Resource Management Committee, which include scheduling and notifying members of meetings, developing agendas, attending meetings, recording and transcribing minutes, and preparing and distributing minutes to committee members.
Acts as the primary liaison between Engineering Service and administrative offices outside of the service.
Provides a wide variety of administrative tasks within the service such as validating, assisting, advising, and consulting with staff on such matters as personnel, equipment, administrative reports, maintenance, and safety programs.
Oversees and reviews the work product for the activities of Engineering Service on all outgoing correspondence and documents prepared for the signature of the Chief for proper coordination, compliance with policy and composition format, obtaining revisions necessary to comply with established criteria.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (subject to change based on the needs of the agency) Telework: VA supports the use of telework to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies.
