A member of the operations team of the Patient Care Services Central Staffing Office responsible for establishing, planning, monitoring, and directing staff management for the CAVHS Nursing and Patient Care Service Lines.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/01/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: Providing administrative and clerical support in an office setting Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to collect, organize, and analyze data for reporting and administrative support.
Manages inventory of equipment. Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and information. Experience must be detailed in your resume for credit to be given.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Physical Requirements: The work to be performed is generally sedentary although there may be some nominal walking or standing for short periods of time or carrying of light loads of papers, books, reports etc.

Major Duties:
Your duties can include but are not limited to the following: Analyzes staffing methodology data across multiple service areas to identify trends, support decision-making, and improve operational efficiency.
Designs and develops reporting formats and data outputs to present actionable information for leadership and program use.
Determines project and staffing resource requirements to ensure effective allocation and utilization of personnel.
Prepares and delivers oral presentations on workforce data, labor mapping, and operational metrics to support leadership understanding and planning.
Develops and documents methodologies for staffing processes to address gaps such as call-outs and shifting resource needs.
Manage and maintain scheduling systems and timesheets to support accurate workforce tracking and reporting.
Communicates and coordinates with staff and supervisors to resolve technical and interpersonal issues impacting operations.
Educates staff on data requirements, system usage, and interpretation of reports to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Maintains liaison with multiple departments to support collaboration, information sharing, and alignment of operational needs.
Work Schedule: Evening shift 2:30pm-11:00pm with rotating weekends and holidays (subject to change based on the needs of the agency) Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
