Full Job Description

Will serve as the Program Assistant to the Mental Health Department, for VA Maine Healthcare Systems. The purpose of the work is to provide administrative/clerical support to Mental Health programs.

Specialized EXPERIENCE GS-6: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience which equipped you with the knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position.

To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal Service.

Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: to maintain and organize all administrative records, process data collection and coordination activities, and prepare detailed reports for the Mental Health Department.

Coordinate appointments, track veterans, provide information to families, and ensure proper follow-up for no-show appointments within the Mental Health programs.

Collect, compile, analyze data, create visual representations, and prepare reports to support Mental Health program goals and guidelines.

Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customers, constructively and appropriately.

Resolves problems associated with data analyses and clerical work, communicating findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to ensure compliance with program guidelines and facilitate administrative policy reviews.

Utilizes software to type and compile a variety of documents into final form ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and style for correspondence and a various reports.

Physical Demands :The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work.

However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; or driving an automobile, etc.

No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Plans, develops, maintains, and reviews program data collection methodologies, records, techniques prepares corrective action plans and makes appropriate recommendations for improvements in data collection/maintenance and work flow processes.

Searches, gathers, collects, retrieve extracts, compiles, and/or displays reporting of statistical data. Assists staff in establishing reporting objectives timely reviews, and completion compliance.

Performs work related to the acquisition and/or development of program information and resource materials/personnel to support the policy development and/or technical activities programs.

Completes special projects in support of the policy development and/or technical/program activities of the organization.

Assembles and summarizes data, background information, and other materials from publications and other sources. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 1:00pm , This is a part-time position (20 hours/week).

The salary listed represents full-time employment and will be pro-rated based on the actual number of hours worked each pay-period.

Likewise, benefits and time-off accrual will also be prorated and based on your part-time work schedule.
