Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737

The incumbent is responsible for managing the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center (RLR VAMC) Veteran House.
This person is physically located at the Veteran House at 2669 Cold Springs Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222.
The Veteran House is aligned under the umbrella of Social Work Service and the incumbent reports directly to the Social Work Program Coordinator, Medicine Continuum of Care.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/04/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS 11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education for GS 11 as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 9 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: managing reservations; ability to secure necessary materials and donations; monitors cleanliness or repair needs; communicates with key stakeholders as it relates to census and safety concerns; collects data for monthly reports; good customer service to resolve guest needs or concerns.
OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.
To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such degree that demonstrates the competencies necessary to perform the duties of this position.
OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond.

Major Duties:
Duties include but not limited to: Veteran House Operations: Responsible for the overall operations of the Veteran House as well as the comfort, safety, and welfare of guests The needs of guests are met by providing orientation to the building, assisting with guest requests, as well as addressing guest complaints and concerns Routine needs of the Veteran House are coordinated, including linen management, and ensuring availability of stocked kitchen items Communicates with the lodging Program Support Assistant (PSA) and EMS staff each work day regarding availability of rooms, anticipated guest arrivals, anticipated discharges, and facility cleaning needs Develop and distribute educational information to staff and Veterans/families about lodging policies, guest rules, and other services available Referral Management and Data Maintenance: Receives lodging referrals via the electronic medical record as well referrals directly from Veterans and staff Responsible for assessing eligibility and then either coordinating a reservation or communicating lack of eligibility for lodging to referring source Maintain a daily guest list for the Veteran House, noting upcoming departures or needs for extension, room availability, and all projected room cleaning needs Ensuring accurate Veteran House data collection, developing required monthly reports and meeting monthly report deadlines for forwarding to COC and SW Service leadership Community Relations: Maintains effective working relationships with community organizations and promotes good relations between the VA and community Work with Voluntary service to coordinate special events at the Veteran House such as open-houses, special dinners, and holiday activities Participate in state, regional, and national comfort home societies and organizations for the purpose of improved communication and public relations skills, professional growth, and the opportunity to share their experience with the Veteran House Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 - 4:00pm Compressed/Flexible: Not Available Telework: This is not a telework position Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
