Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS - 0301 - 9, Program Specialist (Med Admin Secretary) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, HSWL OPERATIONAL MEDICINE DIVISION in NORFOLK, Virginia.

To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication.

Maintaining files. Developing detailed procedures and guidelines. Managing varies administrative services necessary for day-to-day operation.

You will serve as a/an Program Specialist (Med Admin Secretary) and be responsible for providing a wide range of administrative support and assistance to the supervisor/manager and the immediate staff of the Clinic based on extensive working knowledge of the organization and substantive programs under the supervisor's control.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Independently planning, managing, developing, and controlling a wide variety of administrative services necessary for day-to-day operation.

Developing, overseeing, and analyzing administrative programs relating to Clinic operations.

Reviewing outgoing correspondence and action papers submitted to ensure that the material is properly prepared, coordination is completed, procedural requirements have been met, grammar is correct, and security markings are correctly applied.

Developing detailed procedures and guidelines to supplement regulations to provide full range of administrative support for the office.

Provides assistance for expediting work in Clinic and satellite division and branch offices.
