Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing logistics, vehicle fleets, facilities, and IT support for the U.S. Border Patrol in Tucson, Arizona, ensuring everything runs smoothly to support border security missions.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S.

Border Patrol, Tucson Sector, Mission Readiness Operations, located in Tucson, AZ.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Planning, organizing, and directing logistics, asset management, information technology support, and fleet operations in support of mission requirements.

Managing fleet operations, including vehicle ordering, allocation, deployment/redeployment, maintenance, excessing, and readiness reporting, and ensuring alignment with national fleet policies and statutory requirements.

Managing facilities coordination activities for multiple sites, including initiating and tracking facilities repair requests, coordinating with facilities management offices, and ensuring environmental, safety, and security inspection findings are addressed.

Using data-driven analysis and performance metrics (e.g., fleet readiness rates, inventory accuracy, cycle times, cost trends) to evaluate logistics and fleet program effectiveness and to recommend changes to policies, staffing, or resource allocations.

Further information on this process will be provided to you during the selection process. This position starts at a salary of $128,162.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $166,615.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

As a Program Manager (Logistics), you will serve as the second-line supervisor and perform significant, independent review and analysis of management, logistics, information technology, asset management, acquisitions, facilities maintenance, administrative support, procurement, and all other areas of mission readiness.

Typical work assignments will include: Assisting with developing and recommending solutions to a broad range of operational and technical issues to evaluate and improve services and processes.

Ensure effective use of available resources by operating within approved budgets to support mission readiness and operational effectiveness.

Managing the agency's Asset Management program and delegating supervisory authority to subordinate first line supervisors in various program areas.

Serving as a mentor to subordinate personnel and providing guidance on assigned tasks as well as developing and implementing timelines to reach established goals.
