About the Position: Serve as the Deputy to the Commander, ASG-Balkans, with duty location at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo, providing direction and general management for the administration and operations of various functions and services critical to meeting the needs of the Command, ASG Balkans.

Position is recognized expert in program planning and management for various critical functions at Camp Bondsteel and other camps in the area of responsibility.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Combat Operations Support: Providing support for combat operations; such as maintenance and repair of combat essential systems.

Policy and Procedure preparation: Formulating policies and long range planning in connection with prospective changes in functions and programs.

Planning: Providing civilian support to combat operations in response to contingencies, disaster relief or other emergency operations.

Administration and Management: Conducting administrative duties to support supervisory functions such as reviewing/approving training schedules, Temporary Duty Travel, Organizational Inspection Programs, meeting requests, briefing slides, statistical analysis, performance management of staff, strategic planning and execution.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Major Duties:

  • Engage and direct the ASG-Balkans civilian staff in program planning and management of base sustainment operations. Directs and oversees short-, mid-, and long-range planning to include strategy development, program objectives, and collaborates.
  • Responsible for special projects where multiple functions are involved and no one element has complete responsibility. Coordinates actions, clarifies responsibilities, and develops timelines for completion.
  • Serve as the liaison with other agencies, activities, and domestic and foreign government personnel concerning missions assigned to ASG-Balkans. Attends meetings with higher echelons, other installations, state and Federal government officials.
  • Exercise delegated supervisory authorities and responsibilities over assign personnel. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Provide advisories on organizational design proposals received from organization/command leadership
  • Provide advice or counsel on both work and administrative matters.
  • Coordinate with entities at higher level echelons on special staff actions.
