Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading efforts to develop and improve hypersonic weapon systems by identifying new technologies, managing risks, and coordinating teams from various organizations.

It requires working with sensitive information and delivering clear updates to top leaders in a fast-paced environment.

A good fit would be someone with experience in engineering projects, team leadership, and handling complex technical challenges in defense or similar high-stakes fields.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-13 or equivalent level managing systems engineering, planning, programming, budgeting, and execution in rapid-prototyping
  • Experience participating in technical Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) or cross-organizational teams to define technology roadmaps, identify resources, and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to provide concise reporting on complex technical matters to high-level leadership
  • Knowledge of hypersonic weapon systems and advanced technologies
  • Experience identifying technical risks and developing mitigation strategies
  • Proficiency in handling Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and multi-classification level activities
  • Skills in managing large teams of external organizations and standing up IPTs

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing systems engineering activities and planning, programming, budgeting, and execution in a rapid-prototyping environment; participating in technical Integrated Product Teams or similar cross-organizational teams to define technology road maps, identify resource requirements, resolve conflicts; and providing simple, concise reporting to high-level leadership on complex technical matters.

  • You will serve as the Science, Technology, and Advanced Capabilities Deputy to identify, learn about, and communicate new candidate technologies to improve the Hypersonic Weapon System.
  • You will identify key technical risks and creative risk mitigation options across a broad portfolio of hypersonic technology development efforts.
  • You will manage a large team of external organizations, such as by standing up Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), defining resource requirements, and resolving cross-organization conflicts.
  • You will work with highly sensitive information, such as Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and simultaneously track activities at multiple classification levels.
  • You will provide concise reporting to program and portfolio leadership on complex technical matters.
