Job Description

Summary

This job involves working for the Department of Defense's education branch to manage projects that improve school programs for kids from preschool through 12th grade, create plans for sharing information with teams and leaders, and help develop policies and reports on educational initiatives.

About the Position: This position is under the DoDEA HQ Education Directorate, Specialized Content, Innovation & Instructional Leadership division located in Alexandria, VA.

This position is not covered by a bargaining unit. Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the PK-12 Education department, developing detailed plans for sharing information with stakeholders and team members, assisting in the development of policy and/or strategic communication planning of PK-12 Education initiatives, and presenting comprehensive progress reports to leadership.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Prepare reports and justifications to brief high level officials on program requirements.
  • Evaluate education programs to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate potential problem areas to develop solutions or new program objectives.
  • Develop strategies supporting implementation and/or administration of policy.
  • Manage projects related to system development, implementation, and upgrades.
