Full Job Description
Under general supervision of the Deputy Director, determines applicants’ admissibility to the program at the SC National Guard Youth Challenge Academy. Manage the areas of case management, post-residential phase, volunteer/mentor services, and admissions. Advises potential cadets and their parents on admission requirements and options, transfers and other related issues. Obtains applicant information by requesting completed applications and necessary information; verifying and clarifying information; interviewing applicants and family members, explaining admission’s criteria. Formulate, develop, update, and implement admissions-related forms, policies and procedures. Assist with recruiting and retention of cadets. Responsible to connect every cadet with a mentor by week 13 of each cycle. Ensure cadets who graduate from SCYCA has placement, which includes employment, school, and/or military. Coordinates program design, implementation and daily administrative activities. Plans, develops, implements, and monitors the Mission, Vision, Goals and Objectives of the SC Youth ChalleNGe Academy. Conducts special projects at management’s request, prepares and presents reports. Reviews program objectives to determine compatibility with agency’s mission; assesses programs and implements policy, procedure or rule changes. Connect and build partnerships with youth serving organizations, agencies and local/state businesses. Assist with short and long term strategic planning. Processes personnel transactions and maintains records and files. Prepares letters, reports and other documents as necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively with the public, and colleagues providing excellent customer service skills to establish effective working relationships, multitask, meet deadlines and pay strong attention detail. Prepares admissions reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Protects organization reputation by keeping information confidential. Create and maintain an effective interview process of potential cadets and their family members. Perform other duties as assigned.
