Full Job Description
Supervises and instructs paraprofessional medical personnel in the care of cadets and the maintenance of their areas. Plans, implements and evaluates medical services in a specialized area. Assists in program planning, policy-making and the development of standards and procedures in relation to medical in a specialized area. Administers first aid to cadets/staff, medication, and specialized medical treatments for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured cadets in accordance with the State laws and District policies. Assesses situations involving cadets’ safety, abuse (physical, sexual, drug, etc.) and other health related issues for the purpose of identifying problems, referring for proper treatment, and complying with legal requirements. Maintains patient records and prepares reports. Promotes wellness through activities directed toward prevention and reduction of risk factors, early detection of disease and control of identified health problems. Collaborates with agencies and other school safety team members to conduct site assessments (e.g. health issues, student health records, emergency preparedness, building/grounds environments, building facilities, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues and/or providing recommendations for improving safety and accessibility. Collaborates with parents, students, teachers, staff, health care providers, and/or public agencies for the purpose of promoting and/or securing student health services, providing information and complying with legal requirements. Conducts age appropriate programs and/or activities in conjunction with classroom curriculum for the purpose of supporting established lesson plans. Counsels students and families on health conditions and lifestyle issues (e.g. mental health, pregnancy, sexually transmitted disease, substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of facilitating a healthier student population. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree or high school diploma and 3 years of related field experience. Medication Administration Certification and Emergency Medical Technician Certification, and/or Certified Nursing Assistant or Paramedics Certification. At least 3 years of supervisory experience in related field.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in medical and at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
