The Program Director provides leadership and instruction for students enrolled in the Expanded Duty Dental Assisting Education Program.

This role is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction while ensuring that all educational activities align with program standards and accreditation requirements.

Key responsibilities include overseeing curriculum development and revision, implementing ongoing assessment strategies, and ensuring that all facilities, instruments, and equipment are properly maintained and meet instructional and safety needs.

The Program Director also manages community outreach initiatives and supervises Dental Clinic operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and institutional guidelines.

This position works collaboratively with the Environmental Health Manager to maintain current safety protocols, including infection control, hazardous materials handling, and overall clinic safety standards.

Teaching assignments may be scheduled during the day or evening, across any campus location, and may be delivered in traditional, online, or hybrid formats.

The Program Director will be hired at the position of Instructor with immediate administrative appointment to Program Director including associated supplemental stipend and reduced teaching load. In accordance with MTC Procedure 2.1.5, all appointments are at the discretion of the VPAA or designee and are typically appointed annually. The Program Director position is typically appointed at the beginning of the academic year, but changes may be made at any time depending upon the I College's needs. Such changes made during the academic year require that impacted faculty members receive a ninety (90) calendar-day written notice regarding changes in supplements and/or release time.

This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.

Requirements

The Program Director for Expanded Duty Dental Assisting must have a Bachelor's Degree or higher and must be a Dental Assisting National Board Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or a dentist licensed to practice in the state of SC with
occupational experience in the application of fourhanded denistry principles, either as a dental assistant or working with a chairside dental assistant.

Qualifications

A dentist (DDS or DMD) with an unencumbered SC license with a background in education and the professional experience necessary to understand and fulfill the program goals.
