HAWAII STATE CAPITOL JOB FAIR
April 2, 2026, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This recruitment is being announced for the job fair on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Hawaii State Capitol, 415 South Beretania Street, 4th floor.

Applicants who receive a Notice of Eligibility confirming their qualifications will be invited to our April 2nd job fair where they can speak with departmental program representatives and leave the job fair with multiple scheduled interview dates and times.

Current vacancies are located in Downtown, Kapolei, and Halawa to Kalihi

The following departments will be participating in this event:
  • Department of Accounting and General Services (Purchasing Specialist I),
  • Department of the Attorney General (Investigator I); and,
  • Department of Budget and Finance (Management Analyst I & Retirement Claims Examiner I)

Salary: $4243 per month (SR-16, Step D)

This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill both Permanent and Temporary vacancies.

Note: Employees appointed to temporary positions may also gain membership in the civil service upon satisfactory completion of an initial probation period of at least six months.

Once you become a member of the civil service, you become eligible to apply for promotion and transfer opportunities to permanent as well as other temporary positions.


Requirements

This recruitment will be used to fill entry level professional positions in a variety of programs, such as but not limited to the employee retirement system, public housing, and departmental administrative offices.

As an entry level trainee, the employee receives on-the-job training in the principles, concepts, work processes, methods and techniques, and reference materials fundamental to aspects of the professional work to be performed, and orientation to the goals, objectives philosophies, etc. pertinent to the assigned program. Work assignments are clear-cut, routine, and are selected and designed to develop the employee in preparation for work at a higher level.

Upon completion of probation and continued satisfactory job performance, the successful employee will be expected to progress to the authorized (higher) level of the positions in the assigned program.

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.


Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Progressively responsible administrative, professional or other analytical work experience that provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

The education or experience background must also demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.

Note: Applicants who will graduate with a bachelor’s degree within three months, and will meet the minimum qualification requirements upon their graduation will be accepted for examination. If selected for an appointment, you will be required to submit your official transcript or diploma confirming your graduation.
