Full Job Description

You will serve as a ASSISTANT PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (GENERAL) in the JOB READINESS CELL DIVISION, SUPPLY DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO PROVIDE PRODUCTION SUPPORT SERVICES: *Controls the flow of work packages and materials to supervisors.

*Maintains necessary records and assists in writing, processing, and certifying paperwork in support of shipboard work.

*Receives and reviews job packages prepared by the Project Team Production Shop Planner or shop planning offices and distribute them to the proper supervisors.

*Determines if the material requirements and flow are appropriate for the described work. *Identifies scheduling conflicts to the applicable Project Team personnel for resolution.

  • You will track scheduling information and ensure the Zone Manager and Foreman close out or reschedule job orders in a timely manner.
  • You will review completed work packages to ensure all completion signatures and necessary data are present.
  • You will assure discrepancies are resolved prior to routing the job package to the production shop planners in the work packaging group or shop planning office.
  • You will act as act as a liaison between the project zone managers/foreman and the Engineering and Planning Department and Quality Assurance Office on job related material problems.
