Job Description

Summary

This job involves planning, scheduling, and managing materials to support the maintenance and repair of aircraft at an Air Force depot.

It helps ensure that work on planes and related equipment runs smoothly by tracking progress and resources.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of production planning, scheduling and material technician tasks in direct support of depot maintenance programs and operations.

This position is a developmental GS-09 Target GS-11 position. Individual selected may be promoted without further competition, upon meeting all legal and regulatory requirements.

Starting salary indicated on this vacancy announcement is for the GS-09.

This position is covered by a formalized training program and pay retention of 150% of the maximum rate of the basic pay is authorized for candidates requesting a Voluntary Change to lower Grade.

Military Spouse candidates exercising their preference will be placed at the full performance level, if considered to be best qualified and selected Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions .

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (GS-09): Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes applying principles, procedures, concepts, production organization and related production methods in facilities, machinery, equipment, manpower and materials required; planning and scheduling repair, overhaul, operations for major aircraft, exchangeable's, and associated assets; monitoring the flow of work through the various work centers as needed to support work in progress.

NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (GS-11): Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes performing a variety of production planning and scheduling and material technician tasks in support of depot maintenance programs and operations; repairing, overhauling, manufacturing, modifying various weapon systems strategic fixes to aircraft and engines, exchangeable' s, missiles; and monitoring, researching to validate unplanned parts requests, other major end items and associated assets.

NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level.

TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and theories of the classified title, and the standard practices, methods, and techniques of the occupation sufficient to perform difficult, but well-precedented assignments.

2. Knowledge of analysis, evaluation, fact-finding, and investigative techniques in order to gather data, identify significant factors, and recommend a solution from a number of possible alternatives.

3. Knowledge of the occupation to perform studies and prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence to communicate factual and procedural information clearly. 4.

Skill in applying the principles, concepts, and practices of the occupation sufficient to perform moderately difficult assignments. 5.

Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in an appropriate manner with peers and management. 6.

Ability to learn and apply analytical investigative techniques to accomplish work in the subject-matter field.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Researches, analyzes, plans, and initiates job acceptance for programmed/unprogrammed workloads.

Manages shop capacity and calculates shop hours based on workload mixture in systems to control input to maintenance.

Monitors multiple shop operations, plans and suggests actual production start dates, monitors assets in- work, and monitors assets in-queue in support of the Squadron Commander/Director.

Provides material management support to production operations by ordering parts and material.
