The SC Department of Veterans’ Affairs is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply!

This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.


The Procurement Specialist conducts and enables routine procurement activities for the SC Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist:

  • Performs entry-level or routine procurement duties.
  • Reviews and examine documents to procure goods, services, and information technology by determining the best procurement method.
  • Use solicitation process for the Department as required.
  • Ensures all SC State procurement code requirements and Department policies and procedures are followed.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions and apprise the requisitioner of items available through state contracts, other alternate potential suppliers, and Department contracts.
  • Processes requisitions through all stages of the procurement.
  • Provides assistance to Deputy Director of Procurement with market research, drafting documents, formatting documents, proofing documents, tracking procurements, and special projects assigned.

Requirements

A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the work experience.

Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview.

A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant.

Please note that some areas of the Agency may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring.

Failure to produce an official, certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.


Additional Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Position may require overnight travel.
  • Position requires routine driver duties.

Qualifications
