The Screen-out Element for this position is ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-5378-10 without more than normal supervision such as: Performing mechanical and automotive electrical repairs for various types of Ground Support Equipment; Examining ground support equipment to: locate area of defective operation/breakdown, diagnose malfunction, determine depth of repair or rework required, and material requirements; Assembling and reassembling various systems and components of ground support equipment and replacing or repairing parts to complete repairs; AND Measuring and working within close tolerances, clearances, and specifications.

  • You will troubleshoot repairs, modify, and test a variety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and air conditioning aviation ground support units.
  • You will disassemble various systems and components of Aviation Ground Support Equipment and replaces or repairs necessary parts such as bearings, ignition units, magnate units, steering systems and similar assemblies.
  • You will repair, align, inspect and test various systems, such as power drives, transmissions, clutches, hydraulic actuators, pumps, valves and control systems.
  • You will remove and replace major components such as engines (diesel and gas), generators, and jet start engines.
