This job involves maintaining and repairing powered ground support equipment used for aircraft servicing in the Army National Guard, including troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and handling fuel refueling for planes and helicopters.

This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number NGD1067000 and is part of AASF. This is a Title 32, Dual-Status position.
AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: - Members of the South Dakota Army National Guard NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Rank: Enlisted. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted.
The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience or training. Experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories.
Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments.
Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships.
Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training.
Skill to troubleshoot deficiencies and repair flight critical equipment including lifting devices, turbine powered generators, towing devices and auxiliary power units.
Skill to troubleshoot, make repairs, and perform services and modifications on powered ground support equipment.
Skill to perform required preventative maintenance and servicing of equipment including repairing and replacing tires, lubrication, and oil changes.

As a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-5378-10, you will: This position is located in the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Logistics function or the Aviation Classification and Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD).
The primary purpose for the position is to perform duties involving the maintenance and repair of power ground and other support equipment used in aircraft servicing and repairs.
Additional duty of ground refueling of fixed and rotary wing aircraft as well as for maintaining the HAZMAT program for the AASF.
