Full Job Description

This Police Support Technician is responsible for performing routine clerical duties for a section or division in the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD). This current vacancy will be for Records.

***These positions may be shift work with off days being weekdays (not Saturday and Sunday). Must be willing to work holidays.


The Metro Nashville Police Department is a 24/7/365 operation. You will be responsible for ensuring optimum communications both within Metro and between Metro and the general public. ***Vacancies in the Property and Evidence section require a drug test.

Requirements

  • Creates, organizes, searches, and maintains confidential files and records.
  • Performs responsible clerical and technical duties.
  • Verifies and enters data into computer.
  • Makes routine posting of entries.
  • Answers inquiries by phone and in-person.
  • Must become proficient in all relevant TCA codes relating to Public Records.
  • Compiles, checks and processes reports, documents, and forms.
  • Makes mathematical computations.
  • Answers correspondence from various sources.
  • May process judicial and/or administrative expungements of arrest records.
  • May fulfill public records requests such as accident reports, body worn camera footage, dash cam footage, background checks, personnel files, disciplinary records, and Office of Professional Accountability (OPA) files.
  • May compile data for statistical, financial, or narrative reports.
  • May order and stock office supplies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of administrative experience.

LICENSES REQUIRED
Valid Driver License
NCIC Certification may be required for some positions in this classification.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
