Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining and repairing the irrigation systems at a golf course on a U.S. Army base, including fixing sprinklers, pipes, and valves to keep the lawns watered properly.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on plumbing experience who can work independently under general supervision and doesn't mind outdoor, physical work.

It's ideal for a practical problem-solver comfortable with tools and basic repairs.

Key Requirements

  • Sufficient training and experience in plumbing or irrigation repair to work independently under normal supervision
  • Ability to repair and replace parts of lawn irrigation systems, including sprinkler heads, piping, valves, and control timers
  • Skills in measuring, cutting, threading, bending, and assembling pipes for installation
  • Proficiency in caulking, gluing, sealing joints, and working with plastic and metal piping up to 8 inches
  • Capability to dig holes and trenches to access and repair broken pipes
  • Experience maintaining an inventory of repair parts and supplies
  • Willingness to perform other assigned duties as needed

Major Duties:

  • Makes repairs by removing, cleaning, replacing and sealing defective parts of lawn irrigation systems. Repairs/replaces sprinkler heads, piping, valves, couplings and other associated parts to include automatic control timers.
  • Measures, cuts and threads pipe, bending sections to desired curvature and assembling for installation.
  • Caulks, glues and seals such things as elbows, union joints and plastic and metal piping, to include tapping into pipes up to 8 inches. Digs holes and/or trenches to expose broken pipes for repair/replacement.
  • Maintains adequate supply of repair parts. Performs other duties as assigned.
