This job involves installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems like pipes, fixtures, and water lines for the City of El Paso, often in street maintenance projects.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED, or higher and two (2) years of journey level plumbing experience.
Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state. Some positions may require a Texas Backflow Prevention Tester Certification or a Texas journey level plumbing license by time of appointment.
Under general supervision, perform and undertake a variety of plumbing construction, repair or maintenance duties, tasks, assignments, projects and related work.
Review, assess, repair and/or install water lines, fixtures, pipes, valves, drains, water heaters and other related equipment. Involves: Assess need of project/assignment.
Identify, undertake, recommend and/or oversee materials, supplies, equipment and/or parts purchase and inventory. Repair/replace/install piping, valves, fixtures and/or other items.
Inspect property/location. Repair and/or provide preventative maintenance services. Clean pipes, test and validate results. Operate standard to specialized equipment utilized to perform duties.
Read, understand, interpret and apply blue prints, schematics, building plans and similar documents. Maintain/update files, records, reports and logs.
Install new and/or enhanced equipment and/or systems. Involves: Identifying/recommending/researching costs, parts, supplies, equipment and material needs. Identify costs. Gather materials and supplies.
Coordinate plumbing service needs and schedules with other trades, vendors, contractors, departments and others. Perform manual labor and/or direct others assigned to assist.
As assigned/authorized, may direct laborers/trades helpers and/or others in routine, non-personnel areas.
As assigned/authorized, may participate in or make recommendations on personnel-related matters, including, but not limited to, directing or recommending assignment/delegation of work, review/inspection/acceptance of work, training/development of employees, and/or other assigned responsibilities.
