Job Description

Summary

This job involves planning, scheduling, and estimating work for manufacturing and repair projects on ships and industrial equipment at a naval shipyard in Bremerton, Washington.

You'll review drawings and instructions to organize tasks, prepare material estimates and job orders, and monitor progress on-site to keep projects on track.

It's a good fit for someone with hands-on experience in shipfitting or similar trades who enjoys coordinating teams and solving production issues.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Planner and Estimator (Shipfitter) in the Facilities Manufacturing Branch of PSNS and IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

  • You will plan, schedule, and progress manufacturing projects within specifications for the manufacturing, modification and repair of industrial plant, special maintenance, minor property and special support equipment.
  • You will analyze engineering drawings, technical instructions and related correspondence, and plan the work to be accomplished for manufacturing projects.
  • You will prepare detailed specifications and estimates for purchase of material, competitive bids and contract work.
  • You will prepare job orders which shops are involved, delineate labor to be done by the Shipyard Shops and Codes, designating which shops are involved and detailing the work to done by each in the proper sequence.
  • You will alleviate shortages, delayed deliveries, pileups, and excesses.
  • Your will periodically visit the work site to obtain physical progress of the job.
