This job is for a pipefitter leader at a naval shipyard in Maine, where you'll guide a team of workers in installing and repairing pipes on ships, ensure everyone follows safety rules, and help train new or struggling team members on the job.
It's a hands-on role involving both nuclear and regular ship equipment, so it's ideal for experienced pipefitters who enjoy supervising others and working in a structured, safety-focused environment like the military.
You will serve as a PIPEFITTER LEADER in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE while performing the following duties: Instructing pipefitters and Pipefitting workers on proper work procedures and methods, use of tools and safety pertaining to shop trade skills.
Instructing and providing improvement strategies for students that have not reached the required proficiency levels. Understanding and instructing individuals on both Nuclear and Non-Nuclear equipment.
Reviewing pipefitter work instructions and shop procedures to determine proper sequence of work.
Providing pipefitter skills training utilizing tools such as mock-ups, in shop work areas, or facilities, and on deck plates.
