This vacancy is for a GS-0080-12, PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, COMMUNICATIONS COMMAND PLANNING DEPARTMENT in CHESAPEAKE, Virginia.
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
Knowledge of the guidelines, methods, precedents, and techniques applicable to all phases of security management Ability to study and analyze the information gathered and extrapolate correctly in terms of assigned responsibility, make sound judgment, decision, and conclusions based on the facts and security standards Ability to perform review, analysis, and resolution of difficult and complex problems; and Knowledge of rules, regulations, and practices associated with all aspects of the Key Management Infrastructure NOTE: All experience statements (i.e., duties, specialized experience, or related applicable assessment) copied from this announcement and pasted into your resume will not be considered as a demonstration of your qualifications for this position.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
You will serve as a/an PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST and be responsible for administering and supporting the entire Fifth District by managing a Regional Electronic Key Management System (EKMS).

Typical work assignments include: Identifying the COMSEC requirements based upon the type of communications systems installed Providing guidance in the operation and administration of their respective Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) duties and actions associated with the receipt, handling, issue, safeguarding, accounting, and disposition of COMSEC material assigned to their respective accounts or to the COMMCOM account.
Analyzing and evaluating reports of COMSEC incidents; and prepares oral and/or written reports, decisions, conclusions or recommendations from local, Regional and requesting commands.
Serving on natural work groups that define and standardize Global KMI (Key Management Infrastructure) procedures for the Coast Guard, developing and assisting in the implementation plans for applying the results of such work groups within the Coast Guard and regional organizations Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
