Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a scientist or mathematician in the Navy's ocean research division, focusing on collecting, processing, and analyzing ocean data to create useful environmental products for mine warfare.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/GEOPHYSICIST/OCEANOGRAPHER/MATHEMATICIAN in the Mine Warfare Analysis & Databases Division, Mine Warfare Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

(For GS-13) In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Experience profound knowledge of geophysical techniques used to develop ocean environmental products, covering the full lifecycle of data collection, processing, and analysis.

Experience managing complex databasing and driving process improvements for existing oceanographic technologies.

Experience navigating diverse technical landscapes, including computer hardware, systems architecture, and advanced scientific visualization.

Experience leveraging Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology and sophisticated oceanographic measurement systems to manage large-scale data assets.

Experience establishing groundbreaking criteria and extending methodologies for the application of innovative GIS and data management solutions.
