Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate dispensing of medications by verifying the correct drug and dosage for each consumer and providing clear instructions designed to minimize the risk of adverse reactions.

You will fill medication orders and prescriptions, labeling containers in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Pharmacy Procedure Manual for hospital use.

You will carefully review medication orders using the consumer’s electronic profile to identify potential adverse reactions, duplications, incompatibilities, or allergies.

Responsibilities include examining consumer records to ensure the completeness and accuracy of medication orders in accordance with accreditation standards and consulting medical staff when concerns arise regarding a consumer’s medication regimen.

Additionally, you will provide medication-related guidance to patients, nursing staff, and physicians, including information on proper use, dosage, potential side effects, and safety considerations.

You will assist in maintaining pharmacy records and documentation in compliance with DHS regulations, hospital policies, and applicable state and federal laws, as well as accrediting agency requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a license to practice pharmacy as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
