This job is for a lead pharmacist who oversees a team in a veterans' hospital pharmacy, handling daily operations, staff supervision, and ensuring everything runs smoothly to support patient care.
It involves managing budgets, meeting regulations, and working with other departments to achieve the hospital's goals.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency.
Pharmacists must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).
Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
NOTE: Prior to 2005 ACPE accredited both baccalaureate and Doctor of Pharmacy terminal degree program. Today the sole degree is Doctor of Pharmacy.
Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the educational requirement if the graduate is able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification, which includes passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT).
Licensure: Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
The pharmacist must maintain current registration if this is a requirement for maintaining full, current, and unrestricted licensure.
A pharmacist who has, or has ever had, any license(s) revoked, suspended, denied, restricted, limited, or issued/placed in a probationary status may be appointed only in accordance with the provisions in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section B, paragraph 16.
NOTE: Individuals who have or have had multiple licenses and had any such license revoked for professional misconduct, professional incompetence or substandard care, or who surrendered such license after receiving written notice of potential termination of such license by the State for professional misconduct, professional incompetence, or substandard care, are not eligible for appointment to the position unless such revoked or surrendered license is fully restored (38 U.S.C.
§ 7402(f)). Effective November 30, 1999, this is a requirement for employment.
This requirement does not apply to licensed pharmacists on VA rolls as of that date, provided they maintain continuous appointment and are not disqualified for employment by any subsequent revocations or voluntary surrenders of State license, registration or certification.
Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements for employment in paragraph 2, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. GS-13 Experience.
In addition to the GS-12 requirements, must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Pharmacy Supervisor.
Responsible for the professional and administrative management of an assigned area in pharmacy service, to include budgetary execution.
Such individuals have responsibilities for supervising multiple pharmacists and technicians.
Manages people, maintains effective interdepartmental relations, and cooperates with other services to accomplish the medical facility's mission and goals.
Develops performance standards, assures that the program area is compliant with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements, designs and implements orientation and training programs for staff, and develops and maintains systems to monitor the performance of staff activities.
Develops policies and procedures relative to their assigned area. Pharmacists assigned to this position must demonstrate the following KSAs: Ability to effectively supervise subordinate staff.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions. Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards pertaining to pharmacy.
Skill in managing people or programs. References: VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G15 The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-13.
Physical Requirements: Physical Demands: Physical aspects associated with work required of this assignment are typical for the occupation, (see duties section for essential job duties of this position).
May require standing, lifting, carrying, sitting, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
May be required to wear personal protective equipment and undergo annual TB screening or testing as conditions of employment.
Work Environment: Work is preformed in an office/clinic setting with minimal risks that requires normal safety precautions; the are is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
However, the work environment requires someone with the ability to handle several tasks at once in sometimes stressful situations. Major Duties:
The Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor assists the Chiefs of Pharmacy in planning, directing, controlling, and coordinating comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services and comprehensive clinical pharmacy activities at the Orlando VA Medical Center including all corporate patient care locations.
These duties include all aspects of supervision for those reporting to this position.
This position will also serve as the Residency Program Director (RPD) for the post-graduate year one (PGY1) residency program.
Serves as resource and staff assistant to the Chief of Pharmacy Service, Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Chief of Staff, and Medical Center Director.
Represents Pharmacy Service on advisory teams, boards and committees within the Medical Center, the VISN, and Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Advances clinical pharmacy practice, pharmacy and medical center research, efficient and effective drug distribution, and education to improve patient quality of life, minimize therapeutic risk and enhance clinical outcome.
Functions as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (CPS)/Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) with direct patient care responsibility and provides evidence based pharmaceutical care services through both direct and indirect patient and provider interaction.
The CPS/CPP serves as a provider with prescriptive authority as outlined in the individual's Scope of Practice.
The CPS/CPP functions as part of the assigned section and may also consult on patients in any area with pharmacotherapy issues.
The CPS/CPP has full responsibility to develop necessary services such as physician consultation, patient monitoring, patient counseling and medication management clinics.
The CPS/CPP promotes and manages drug therapy based on current clinical knowledge that is consistent with policies established at the national, VISN, and local levels.
Work Schedule: 8am to 4:30pm, however employees may be required to work day, evening, night, weekends, holidays, and or compressed tours on a rotating schedule.
The hours may vary per the needs of the service and will rotate, on a fair and equitable basis, to include weekends and holidays.
