This job posting is for seasonal positions in PennDOT's Winter Maintenance Program, running from September 2025 to April 2026, focused on keeping Pennsylvania's roads clear and safe during winter weather.

Repairs and maintains PennDOT equipment and diesel-powered vehicles, including heavy trucks weighing 26,001 pounds or greater, graders, backhoes, front end loaders, and other equipment.
Conducts routine maintenance and repair of vehicles, equipment and parts, to ensure that all fleet vehicles and equipment operate at peak efficiency within department standards.
Winter Trades Positions (Tradesman Helper & Semi-Skilled Laborer) ($18.46)Special Requirements: ALL positions require possession of an active PA Class A or B CDL or equivalent with the Air Brake (L) Restriction removed; ALL positions require possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; ALL employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period; CERTAIN positions may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment; CERTAIN positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
ALL positions are subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
Special Requirements: ALL positions require a possession of a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License; ALL positions require a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; ALL employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period; CERTAIN positions may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment; CERTAIN positions may require employees to possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment; CERTAIN positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
