Requirements
This position is designed for trainees who will be tasked with operating equipment used in highway construction and maintenance, as well as engaging in various manual labor activities as part of a highway or bridge maintenance team. The role involves training for the necessary licensing and certification to handle heavy construction machinery, specifically including Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) vehicles and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. Trainees will learn to conduct and document essential pre- and post-operation inspections, ensuring that all equipment is safe to operate and properly adjusted to reduce wear and tear. Additionally, the position requires the operation of various hand and foot controls, the use of seat belts for safety, and the ability to install and remove tire chains on dual wheels, all of which are critical for maintaining operational efficiency and safety on the job site.Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours subject to change due to weather/season.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,526.00 (before taxes).

Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner’s Permit on the first day of work.
- This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
