Responsibilities of the Part-Time Resident Advisor - Live-In:
(Multiple positions available)
Under the supervision of the Director of Residential Life and the Assistant Directors of Residential Life, this employee provides immediate residential life oversite and guidance in matters relative to health and safety, discipline, and personal-social problems of all the students attending the South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe. Will work under limited supervision. Individual is expected to use discretion, tact, and exercise good judgment at all times. Employees will report to the Assistant Director of Residential Life and the Director of Residential Life. Must exhibit professionalism and effective working relationship when interacting with students, parents/guardians, co-workers, faculty/staff, and a community of stakeholders. Ability to provide visual and auditory supervisor of residents, demonstrate group leadership and organizational skills, be punctual for scheduled shifts and meetings, exercise tact, discretion, and judgement in working with a variety of people, and be in condition suitable for assuming responsibilities for this position.
Provides immediate residential life oversight and guidance in matters pertaining to health and safety, discipline, and personal-social problems.
Provides a nurturing and safe environment in the residence halls. Monitors activities and whereabouts of residences. Administer medications.
Complete all residential reports, plans, records, and incident reports for the residence hall.
Collects, maintains, and disseminates student data on student success, absenteeism, and discipline. Communicates in a regular and timely manner with the department supervisors concerning incidents, problems, and progress. Participate in trainings, meetings, committees, programs, meet regularly with supervisor, and activity participate in training and professional development.Reviews the conditions of residential life facilities, equipment and supplies.Reviews and follows agency policy to ensure student safety. Collaborates with campus units to ensure compliance to and with external regulations and laws, including but not limited to DHEC regulations, fire code regulations, and attendance regulations.Perform other related duties as required.Positions will work 3:00 pm on Friday- 4:00 pm on Sunday each weekend you work. Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to drive a state vehicle including a minibus. Must be able to pass a national background check. Must being willing to work with students, give medication as needed/required, supervise residence halls, work on a team and independently. May transport students to activates on and off campus. Campus housing and meals provided when on duty. Anticipated start date of January 9, 2025. Anticipated end date of May 18, 2026, with option to return for 2026-2027 school year.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma, a valid driver's license, and must be able to pass a national background check.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to hear, speak audibly, talk, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and drive state vehicles.
- Must be able to work variable hours and weekends.
- Employee maybe required to live in residence on days they work.
- Blood Borne Pathogens, First Aid/CPR/AED training, and other training required as required, but not limited to Vector Training, and Mandatory Reporting.
