Job Description
This part-time Driver primarily responsible for operating the County van and/or bus to support the Home-Delivered Meals Program, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of meals to clients in the community. This includes loading, transporting, and delivering meals directly to clients' homes while maintaining proper food handling and safety standards. In addition, the driver provides transportation services for clients to and from designated locations on a daily basis. Responsibilities include transporting clients to medical appointments, pharmacies, post offices, and other essential designations, as well as facilitating special trips such as outings to malls and senior center field trips.

Essential Duties
  • Delivering meals to homes as part of the home delivered meals programs
  • Communicating with and assisting clients entering and leaving van/bus and escorts as needed, including the physically and mentally disabled.
  • Maintaining accurate records, operating van, bus, and wheelchair lift
  • Following oral and written instructions
  • Collecting, recording, and posting contributions by clients for transportation and turning them into the supervisor
  • Driving a designated county vehicle to support senior programs
  • Delivering meals to homes as needed as part of home delivered meals programs
Public Speaking Duties
  • Announcements to groups
  • Communicating with and assisting clients, including the physically and mentally disabled
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job requires fingerprinting.

Hourly rate
Salary will be $15.75 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND
  • One year of experience operating multi-passenger vehicles
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Understanding of county roads and streets
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake qualification
  • CPR Certified (after employment)
  • Defensive driving training (after employment)
