Full Job Description

Located in South Carolina’s well-known Santee Cooper Country, Santee State Park sits along Lake Marion. South Carolina locals know the lake for its abundant population of large catfish. Santee State Park camping is offered on the lake, but for guests who prefer to spend the night indoors, rondette cabins, 10 of which sit on piers over the lake, are available and have been attracting families for years.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of state parks to include repair and construction of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, grounds keeping and landscaping activities. Assists with the administration and the operation of a state park; assist park visitors.

1) Performs miscellaneous repairs and park improvements, to include carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping and grounds keeping.
2) Performs and directs clean-up and housekeeping activities to assure the attractiveness, cleanliness and safety of park grounds and facilities.
3) Repairs and maintains motorized equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment. Keeps maintenance records.
4) Assists in planning and scheduling the Park's maintenance program.
5) Performs public relations activities for the park by the distribution of general park and park service information.
6) Assists with operation of the park by registering campers, completing related forms, and reports, performing routine patrol, working in retail sales area.
7) Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year general maintenance experience

Additional Requirements:

1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
2) Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions; ability to perform simple arithmetic computation. Ability to operate a variety of power tools.
3) Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License.

Actual Job Location: Santee State Park

Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
