The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is actively looking to hire individuals for several seasonal positions as Park Maintenance Workers at Codorus State Park. Requirements
In this position, you will engage in semi-skilled tasks both independently and collaboratively, while also providing support to skilled workers in routine maintenance and construction activities at Codorus State Park. Your responsibilities will include repairing buildings and facilities, utilizing tools from various trades such as carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing to carry out essential maintenance tasks.
Additionally, you will be involved in the upkeep and cleaning of vehicles and equipment used throughout the park, ensuring they remain in optimal condition. Ground maintenance is another key aspect of your role, which entails mowing grass, cutting weeds, and preparing sites for new turf, as well as planting and caring for trees and shrubs. You will also be tasked with litter collection, sorting recyclables, and managing materials by loading and transporting them in dump trucks or pickup trucks. Other duties include cleaning grills, maintaining picnic areas, constructing and repairing picnic tables, and installing fire rings and charcoal grills. You will sweep paved parking areas, repaint lines and bumper blocks, and maintain road and informational signs by cleaning or replacing them as needed. Your work will also involve digging holes and ditches, cleaning drains and culverts, cutting firewood, trimming trees and bushes, and clearing brush and debris using various tools, including hand saws and gasoline-powered equipment.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for the general housekeeping and maintenance of park facilities, which includes cleaning and stocking restrooms, shower houses, offices, and pavilions, as well as performing minor repairs like changing light bulbs. Safety is paramount, so you will be expected to use all equipment, power tools, and hand tools properly while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). In addition to these tasks, you will assist park visitors by providing information in a friendly and helpful manner, complete necessary documentation such as daily records and fuel dispensing logs, and may be required to utilize the Employee Self-Service (ESS) system for time management and related human resource functions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits.
The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.
The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
Work schedule varies; 37.5-hours/week, 7-days/week operation. Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
