The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is actively seeking a committed Park Maintenance Worker to become part of the team at Ole Bull State Park, which is situated within the Kettle Creek State Park Complex. This position entails engaging in semi-skilled manual labor that is essential for the maintenance and enhancement of the park's facilities and its stunning natural landscapes. Requirements

In this position, you will engage in semi-skilled tasks independently or provide assistance to a skilled worker in the routine maintenance and construction activities within a State Park. Your responsibilities will include repairing buildings and facilities by utilizing tools from various trades such as carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing. You will also be involved in the operation and upkeep of vehicles and equipment used throughout the park, ensuring they are clean and well-maintained.

Additionally, you will construct simple forms for cement work, mixing and placing cement, finishing surfaces with masonry tools, and laying stone and block walls. Ground maintenance is another key aspect of your role, which involves mowing grass, cutting weeds, and managing firewood, as well as picking up litter and maintaining cleanliness in the park. You will also be tasked with preparing sites for new turf, planting and caring for trees and shrubs, and painting or staining park structures, signs, and gates.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for general housekeeping and building maintenance, which includes cleaning restrooms and offices, performing minor repairs like replacing light bulbs, and ensuring the safe and proper use of all tools and equipment. Assisting park visitors with information in a friendly manner is essential, as is completing necessary documentation such as daily records and fuel dispensing logs. Lastly, you will operate a two-way radio following established procedures to maintain effective communication within the park.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits.

The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.

The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.

  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hrs. per week to include weekends and holidays if needed

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
