Full Job Description

The current vacancy is in the Parks & Recreation department. The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the department or County.


Park Counts

Location: Various Ramsey County regional parks/trails


In this position, staff will go to various regional park and trail locations throughout Ramsey County Park system.

The park count staff is responsible for showing up to the assigned location on time, count park users as they are entering the park/trail at the specific location and submitting the counts on time.


Waterpark Admissions

Location: Battle Creek Waterpark


The Waterpark Admission job is a fast paced, position for a friendly outgoing person who can warmly welcome visitors. Roles will include processing credit card transactions, processing group admissions, explaining waterpark rules and creating an inviting visitor experience by treating all visitors will respect.

Please Note: This job posting is being conducted to fill temporary (not to exceed 6 months in length) appointments. The number of hours worked per week and shifts may vary. Applicants chosen for hire from this process will not gain rights or preference for other permanent, Ramsey County jobs.

This posting will remain open for application until filled. Interviews will be scheduled on an ongoing basis until positions are filled.

Requirements

  1. Answer telephone calls and respond to public inquiries concerning County facilities.
  2. Answer questions from golfers, arena users, and nature center and park patrons.
  3. Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors in Parks Administration building.
  4. Cut and trim grass using hand operated equipment and power mowers.
  5. Dispose of trash and trim trees.
  6. Assist in minor building and service equipment repairs or with special projects, as assigned.
  7. Change cups on greens, move tee markers, and rake sand bunkers.
  8. Complete touch-up painting on signs, equipment, and buildings.
  9. Lay sod, and repair turf damage and/or apply fertilizer and pesticides (if qualified and assigned).
  10. Monitor building during rentals and/or events including the opening and closing of the building.
  11. Shovel and blow snow.
  12. Operate scoreboards, PA systems, and/or other electronic systems or devices.
  13. Assist in changing blades on ice making machines.
  14. Operate ice edgers and ice resurfacing equipment.
  15. Patrol designated areas as assigned, report disturbances and assist patrons as necessary.
  16. Conduct user surveys.
  17. Drive company vehicles as assigned.

(The work assigned to a position in this classification may not include all possible tasks in this description and does not limit the assignment of any additional tasks in this classification. Regular attendance according to the position’s management approved work schedule is required.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Winter Months Assignment - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13.

Qualifications

Education: Sufficient to perform the duties.


Experience: None.


Other: Must be 16 years of age.

Additional Information

This is an unclassified, at-will temporary position. This position requires an open screening and selection process. There is no exam for this unclassified, at-will, temporary position.

All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the department for consideration. Employment isn't guaranteed beyond the end of this assignment.


Definition of Unclassified from the Ramsey County Personnel Act:

Subdivision 1. General. "The appointing authority may discharge employees in the unclassified service with or without cause.

Employees in the unclassified service have no right to a grievance appeal from discharge or other disciplinary action under sections 383A.281 to 383A.301.

An employee in an unclassified position shall not have tenure but shall be entitled to all benefits associated with tenure such as vacation leave, sick leave, health insurance, and other benefits as determined by the county board."
