Job Description

Summary

This job is for a Community Corrections Officer in a Washington State Department of Corrections unit in Tacoma, where you'll supervise offenders in the community to ensure they follow their release conditions and stay on track for rehabilitation.

It's a full-time role with standard weekday hours, but the office will relocate in 2026.

A good fit would be an experienced corrections professional already working permanently in a similar role within the department who wants to transfer locations.

Key Requirements

  • Must be requesting a transfer under WFSE Section 2 Supplemental DOC Article 4.7 of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Must be a permanent employee of the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC)
  • Must currently hold permanent status in the Community Corrections Officer job class
  • Must be in a position represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE)
  • Available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with flexibility based on unit needs
  • Willing to relocate or commute to the Parkland Unit 356 in Tacoma, WA (moving to new address in June 2026)

Community Corrections Officer 2 - Position TR19

Parkland Unit 356 – Tacoma, WA


The Community Corrections Division has a permanent, full-time Community Corrections Officer 2 (CCO2) opening available. This position, TR19, is within the Parkland Unit 356, which is located in Tacoma, WA.


***NOTE: This position will be moving to a new office building located at 141 131st Steet East, Tacoma, WA 98444 in June 2026.***

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Work hours are determined by unit needs and are at the discretion of the unit supervisor.

If you are currently working an alternate work schedule, please be aware that this position may not be able to honor that schedule. For questions, please contact the Human Resource Office.

Qualifications

In accordance with WFSE Section 2 Supplemental DOC Article 4.7 of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) 2025-2027 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), this job opening is available to internal transfer candidates ONLY.


Employees who meet the following criteria may apply:

  • You are requesting a transfer under Section 2 Supplemental Article 4.7 of the WFSE CBA.
  • You are a permanent DOC employee.
  • You currently hold permanent status in the job class being recruited for in this job posting.
  • You are currently in a position represented by WFSE.

  • If you have accepted a transfer under Section 2 Supplemental DOC Article 4.7 you are not eligible to request another transfer under this Article for 24 months.
