Outdoor Recreation Coordinator

Join Campus Recreation as the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator and play a key role in shaping student experiences through adventure, leadership, and community engagement.
The Coordinator of Outdoor Recreation supports the success of Campus Recreation by assisting with adventure trips, the indoor climbing wall, and a gear rental and repair hub.
This role supervises student employees, develops opportunities for participation and learning, and maintains equipment inventory.
This position plays a critical role in enhancing the student experience by offering exceptional services and experiences for the USC community.
Note: The exact area(s) of oversight will depend on the candidate’s prior experience as well as current program needs. Primary Duties Include
• Foster student engagement within the USC community
• Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and mentorship of student staff.
• Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of university facilities and spaces
• Support financial management processes, including planning, analysis, and oversight of funds.
• Oversee student managers and support their success through leadership coaching, delegation, and ongoing reflection/feedback
• Contribute to the success of established programs through evaluation and a willingness to innovate.
• Foster student engagement within the USC community
• Ensure compliance with university policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Provide administrative support for Campus Recreation initiatives and objectives outside of Outdoor Recreation (ORec).

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Services, Outdoor Education or Leadership or related field and 1 year related experience. Degree(s) in recreation management and/or outdoor education preferred.
Relevant experience in Outdoor Recreation/Education/Leadership is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to supervise students. Ability to provide programming organization in at least three of the following; climbing, water/paddle sports, wilderness overnight backpacking, challenge course facilitation and cycling maintenance.
