King County's Business Resource Center (BRC) Training Team has an opening for a creative training professional to develop and deliver engaging technical training content in a variety of mediums.

This is a full-time career service position.We are looking for a tech-savvy trainer who enjoys flexing their creative muscles to make technical educational content engaging and helpful for our customers.

Our ideal candidate will enjoy collaborating with team members and have great customer service skills.

They will also have a passion for helping employees learn how to be more efficient by optimizing their use of our business systems and are always seeking to educate and help customers adapt to ongoing application changes.

Our ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who isn’t afraid to ask for help or recommend training process improvements.ABOUT THE BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTER OVERVIEW

The BRC oversees King County’s business systems, which include applications, infrastructure, software, and vendor relationships. The team also supports business processes, system governance, and work prioritization to effectively serve county agencies.

BRC Director’s Office:This team provides guidance to the BRC and advises county leaders on strategies to enhance the county’s ERP business systems.

They also manage the day-to-day operations of the BRC in support of continuous improvement and a cohesive team approach to govern, manage and support the county’s ERP systems.

BI Insights Team:This team specializes in developing and managing business intelligence analytics across our suite of Oracle ERP applications and SAP Concur.

This team also collaborates and works closely with our business partners and county departments to deliver meaningful analytics in support of county business operations.

The team is committed to expanding the use of analytics tools and enhancing ERP data governance across the county.

Financials and Procurement Team:This team specializes in Oracle EBS Financials and Procurement, Oracle Procurement Cloud and Supplier Cloud, and SAP Concur travel systems.

The team collaborates with our business partners and county departments to deliver finance, procurement, travel expense and treasury services across all county business operations.

HR and Payroll System Team: This team specializes in PeopleSoft HR, payroll, and retirement systems, collaborating with our business partners and county departments to deliver HR, benefits, and payroll services across all county business operations.

Shared Services Team: This team specializes in training, change management, and help desk support, along with system security, administration, and licensing.

There is also a highly skilled and technical team of DBAs who manage day to day running and performance of the systems in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as well as coordination of system updates and patches.

Requirements

Key Expectations – In order to be considered minimally qualified for this opportunity, you must demonstrate skill and ability to:

  • Is a creative thinker and problem solver who shows strong self-initiative to overcome issues and can work both independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Plan, design, develop, and deliver technical training content using the following skills:
  • Video production/editing (e.g., screen capture, software demo/tutorial)
  • Instructional design for asynchronous e-learning course development
  • Technical writing (e.g., user guides, tutorial scripts, communications, etc.)
  • Live facilitation for virtual instructor led training and workshops
  • Utilize a variety of technical tools (e.g., Articulate360 - Storyline/Rise [e-learning], Camtasia [video editing], Office 365, etc.) to produce and deliver training content that supports our customers in applying what they’ve learned into their daily business operations.
  • Use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure training content meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) digital accessibility requirements.
  • Have proven time management skills – be able to plan and manage project tasks, keep track of project schedules, and meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate with project teams and subject matter experts to evaluate systems changes that impact our customers.
  • Advise on and support training activities for system upgrades and projects that implement changes to business processes and system functionality.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with BRC systems analysts, business partners, and system stakeholders, and customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively with team members, leadership, customers, and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, communications, and specialized training through forums, virtual instructor-led trainings, workshops, and other mediums of information sharing.
  • Learn and adopt new tools and approaches over time as part of the continuous improvement of training offerings.
  • Considers behavior awareness and interpersonal communication style to meet the needs of a wide range of situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:

  • Experience in e-learning development and instructional design models (i.e., ADDIE, Kirkpatrick, Gagne, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy).
  • Basic understanding of visual design and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to: SharePoint, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using measurement tools and techniques to assess training effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with organizational change management.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.


WORK SCHEDULE: This position is Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is not overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday.


UNION REPRESENTATION: This position is non-represented.


WORK LOCATION: The BRC team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is Chinook Building 401 5th Avenue Seattle, Washington, 98104.


Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.


King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.

The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment.

Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
