About the Position: Serves as the Current Operations Officer with responsibility for the execution of US Army Japan contingency plans and Real World Missions.
Conduct mission analysis and special studies for the G3 that encompass the USARJ Staff and Direct Reporting Units which results in Standard Operating Procedures and or written guidance for all Army Units in Japan by meeting deadlines set by Commanding General or Chief of Staff.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes(1) leading and executing contingency operations, crisis action procedures, and emergency action processes within a military command and control or current operations environment; (2) serving in or directly supporting a Current Operations (CUOPS), Command Operations Center, or Emergency Action Center responsible for real-world mission execution and time-sensitive operational response; (3) integrating operational plans, orders, and taskings (e.g., OPORDs, FRAGOs, TASKORDs, or equivalent directives) into execution through operational reporting, synchronization, and battle rhythm processes; and (4) coordinating and synchronizing operational activities across multiple staff elements to support senior leader decision-making and mission accomplishment in a high-tempo, continuous operations environment requiring initiative, adaptability, and independent judgment.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Emergency Management.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
