Full Job Description

This position is with the Defense Health Agency, located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Directorate of Clinical Support, Department of Virtual Health, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative tasks such as typing correspondence, answering telephone calls, organizing in meetings, conferences, and seminars in support of a medical office; and assisting in preparing financial reports.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Master of Business, Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership, Masters of Arts in Communication, master's in human resources.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Major Duties:

  • Use computers for various applications, such as database management or word processing.
  • Perform administrative tasks in support of the clinic day-to-day administrative operations to include scheduling patient appointments.
  • Project organization requirements for office supplies, computes cost, and other in house budget data.
  • Determine the disposition of all inquiries made relative to the overall activities of the clinic.
  • Track various administrative related deadlines and tasks for an office utilizing automated computer systems.
  • Serve as the office timekeeper which includes inputting time and attendance, identifying payroll discrepancies, and reconciling timekeeping reports.
  • Perform record keeping and data entry.
