Summary

About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Directorate of Resource Management, Honolulu Hawaii.

Basic Requirement for Healthcare Informatics Officer: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.

This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with developing or revising policies or procedures, collecting and analyzing data, and assisting with development and implementation of training programs.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Evaluate clinical business processes and leverage the integration of HIT systems and other office information systems to improve the quality, safety, efficiency and the effectiveness of health care.
  • Provide recommendations on the best courses of action for resolution of issues and initiatives.
  • Coordinate Health Informatics activities among facility CWAs, clinical systems trainers (CST), contractors, project management offices and other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs); as well as with other Health Informatics branches across the enterprise.
  • Work with other Project Sponsors and managers to develop strategies for resolving project-related issues and roadblocks.
  • Develop brief materials, graphics, or written, conducts briefings/presentations.
  • Serve as an extender for the DHA HI, Chief Information office, in the strategic planning, collaboration and execution of Health Informatics projects for the DoD EHR Optimization Plan.
  • Lead or collaborate on complex business process management projects.
  • Identify and manage change management impacts associated with establishment and execution of new or revised business processes; coordinates prioritization of change; develops, executes and updates supporting communication plans
