Make a Difference in Your CommunityThe Department of Revenue for St. Louis County Government is seeking an Office Services Coordinator to join their Collector of Revenue team.

This position is responsible for office support and coordination for the Revenue team, for day-to-day operations as well as project support.

This position is responsible to perform duties associated with quality control and ensure the work accuracy of a defined unit.

Essential Function Examples

  • Handle incoming calls, manage correspondence (mail, emails), file records, and prepare documents.
  • Greet taxpayers to address questions related to delinquent real estate accounts.
  • Perform complex administrative and clerical tasks related to the operation of a defined unit or division and the final production of work.
  • Provide guidance, direction and training and review work for accuracy.
  • Gather data to verify the accuracy of information and identify complex or unusual problems.
  • Prepare reports and summaries of work production.
  • Analyze individual problems and take appropriate action to provide resolutions.
  • Interpret, explain and apply County Department standards, policies and procedures.

Marginal Function Examples

  • Respond to complex or unusual questions from the general public in person, by telephone, or by mail in matters as mandated by individual County Department concerns in order to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • May have independent assignments not associated with other's work.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to four years of professional work experience in a general office environment

  • The work rules for the Department of Revenue require all employees, whether they reside in St. Louis County or elsewhere, to remain current in the payment of their personal and real property taxes

  • Preference may be given to applicants with the following work experience:
    • Public sector
    • Effective communication skills across work groups and departments
    • Customer service experience

Additional Information

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.

The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job-related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.

The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.

All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
