Summary

About the Position: The incumbent will act as an Office Automation Assistant within the Radiation Oncology Division. They will work closely with the Clinic Manager and/or Medical Division Head.

The primary purpose of the position is to independently plan, coordinate, and accomplish a variety of office support functions.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing various clerical support functions, such as using office automation systems to generate a variety of documents, maintaining office calendar to schedule appointments or meetings (i.e.

surgery scheduling), and updating and entering data into electronic files or systems.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management, Healthcare Administration, etc.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist.

A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Major Duties:

  • Coordinates timing of combined same day surgery/radiation procedures with surgical services.
  • Manage a full range of administrative functions.
  • Screens and schedules new patient consults.
  • Ensure accurate payroll and timekeeping compliance
  • Functions as front desk clerical back up/fill-in during clinical working hours.
  • Functions as the clinic office supply manager.
