Full Job Description

Under direction, is responsible for coordinating the delivery and serving of daily meals for elderly citizens in a Senior Center setting.

Conducts Nutrition Risk Assessments and Consumer Needs Evaluations in support of nutrition program requirements. May be responsible for functional supervision over nutrition program volunteers.

This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.


Work Location

Harlandale Senior Center or any of the City's Senior Centers and/or Nutrition sites.


Work Hours

8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday – Friday; work days and hours vary, 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Directs, oversees, and supervises the delivery and serving of hot meals to site participants based on center allotments.
  • Completes Nutritional Risk Assessments and Consumer Needs Evaluations to identify participants' risk of malnutrition and dietary deficiencies.
  • Provides recommendations for additional services as needed.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports related to reimbursement requests, attendance, supplies, daily meal counts, daily menus, storeroom issues, vendor ordering, and home-delivered meals.
  • Trains and provides technical assistance to volunteers.
  • Unloads and sorts food commodities from pallets; assembles food boxes and packages for distribution to Senior Center members, which requires lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
  • Five (5) years customer service experience.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience in community or social work supervisory responsibilities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Applicant Information

Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job.

One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.

One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
