About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Nursing, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace.

Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) which includes 1) Providing comprehensive nursing care to obstetric and/or gynecology patients; 2) Developing evidenced-based teaching methodologies to enhance training and education opportunities; and 3) Gathering data to analyze training needs of clinic staff.

OR Education: Two and a half years (i.e., 45 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education in nursing with a concentration in a field of nursing (e.g., teaching, a clinical specialty, research, administration) or in a closely related non-nursing field directly related to the position.

OR EXEMPTION: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.

Major Duties:

  • Training coordinator for certification programs related to obstetrics and gynecology, fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation and other programs required by agency.
  • Assess, analyze, and resolve problems related to training and education issues.
  • Develop curriculum, lesson plans and training materials for continuing education credits, prepares after action reports to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Research and implement evidenced-based teaching methodology to enhance training and education opportunities.
  • Support the clinical activities of the services and departments with educational support, relating to health care improvement opportunities.
  • Present comprehensive plans for short-term and long-range goals for future Professional Programs training and education.
  • Provide comprehensive professional obstetrical nursing care to OB/GYN patients and their newborns with medical conditions ranging from routine to complex.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate bereavement programs and material.
