Requirements

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide skilled, personal, outpatient, and general population types of care. Responsibilities include monitoring and recording vital signs, height, and weight, as well as collecting specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum. You will demonstrate compassion and respect as you assist inmates with basic personal hygiene tasks including hair, oral, and nail care, as well as bathing and dressing. Other daily tasks include making beds and changing linens as needed, preparing and serving food trays, assisting with feeding, and documenting eating habits. Additionally, you will strictly follow infection control procedures and universal health care precautions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 8-hour shifts include: 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM), with a 30-minute lunch.
• Work schedules are to be determined at the time of hire. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
