Requirements

As a dedicated Nurse Aide, you will join an enthusiastic nursing team providing essential 24-hour care under the direct supervision of licensed professionals. In this role, you will deliver high-quality person-center support by strictly following individualized care plans, accurately monitoring vital signs, and assisting residents with personal hygiene tasks including bathing, dressing, and grooming while maintaining the utmost dignity and respect. Your daily contributions ensure a safe and comfortable living environment through diligent nutritional support and linen services, all while upholding a sterile clinical setting by adhering to rigorous infection control protocols. This position is vital to the well-being of our residents, requiring technical precision and compassionate commitment to those who have served.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (8 hours per day; 40 hours per week)
  • Work hours are 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM (2nd shift), rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch. You will be required to work every other weekend.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,294.00 (before taxes).
  • DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania’s veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
