Job Description

Summary

This job involves providing counseling and support to Navy families, especially in cases of child and spouse abuse, while helping improve overall well-being and work-life balance at a naval base in Japan.

Key Requirements

Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a NON-MEDICAL CLINCIAL COUNSELOR/PSYCHOLOGIST/SOCIAL WORKER in the FLEET AND FAMILY READINESS (N9) of US NAVAL AIR FACILITY ATSUGI.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Providing short term, solution focused counseling for individuals, couples, families and groups of people in crisis; 2) Receiving initial reports and providing safety planning, risk assessment and case management related to child abuse and spouse abuse; 3) Developing and providing treatment targeting at-risk and substantiated victims and offenders of family violence; 4) Maintaining case records, assessments and treatment plans documenting counseling in accordance with policies and regulations.

  • You will plan the work to be accomplished, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares work completion schedules.
  • You will oversee and take appropriate action to ensure implementation of pertinent laws, instructions, policies, procedures, and standards at FFSP throughout the region.
  • You will prepare reports, point papers, correspondence, and proposals regarding CAP matters.
  • You will provide ongoing technical, clinical, and administrative guidance, consultation, and assistance regarding all aspects of CAP services to FFSP personnel and to other related personnel.
  • You will maintain ongoing coordination and collaboration with other regional Program Service Managers and FFSP personnel to address regional and Base Counseling and Advocacy service issues and community support issues.
  • You will provide support services and promote to enhance or improve welfare, quality of life and work/life balance.
  • You will provide services to create more effective organizations, build stronger communities, and promote equality and opportunity.
