This job involves traveling across multiple counties in Pennsylvania to inspect vehicle safety stations and training schools, checking records for compliance with safety rules, and investigating any potential fraud to keep roads safe.
You'll write reports on your findings, sometimes testify in court about violations, and build relationships with stations, police, and other partners.
It's a great fit for someone detail-oriented with hands-on automotive experience who enjoys fieldwork and contributing to public safety.

As a Motor Vehicle Program Inspector, you will be responsible for coordinating and conducting audits of various inspection stations throughout the assigned counties in order to ensure compliance with all regulations, statutes, and protocols within the safety inspection program.
You will complete both administrative and investigative audits which will entail reviewing and analyzing all station records, validating security and the use of certificates of inspection, and ensuring the integrity of the safety inspection program.
You will also conduct audits of department approved schools that offer safety and emissions training and recertification.
Unannounced on-site audits may be performed to review and analyze all required documentation in order to identify fraudulent activity related to the safety inspection program.
